Hannah and Mom at the Guangzhou Airport

Though we travel the world over to find the beautiful, we must carry it with us or we find it not. ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson.

Well technically it has been two days for us since we left Utah and well really feel it. The plane ride was uneventful for the most part. We spent altogether a total of 24 hours of waiting for a plane, riding in a plane or going through numerous security checkpoints. The plane ride on the way over to Guangzhou was very interesting; we got to meet several families adopting children in China. I was really worried about Hannah and how she was going to handle the plane ride over and she was the best traveler of the bunch!

We got to the hotel and met our guide Jenny. We are quickly learning that amateurs can be dangerous when trying to learn and speak Chinese. The people are warm and generous and have a good humor about it. It is nice to know that some of the locals could work on their Engrish as well. There is a beauty saloon a couple of streets from here I will try to get a picture of it.

The women here are totally intrigued with Hannah, they come up and touch her cheek and say something to her. Some of them know enough English to tell us that they think she is cute. We went to a genuine Chinese restaurant and ate the best ham fried rice ever! The waitress and Hannah became the best of friends and she took several pictures of Hannah with her picture cell phone.

It is very exciting to be in a foreign country and experience culture shock. I am really interested in learning about this culture so we can dialog with Elainea about her homeland.

Rose and Grandma are doing great, and yes my mother has already started shopping!
